Flu

Who should have the flu vaccine. Those who:

  • are aged 65 or over

  • are aged 6 months to 64 years who have certain long-term health conditions

  • are pregnant

  • live in a care home

Who should have the flu vaccine

Most eligible adults will be able to get the flu vaccine from 3 October 2024.

This may be later than you've had the vaccine before, but it means you'll have the best protection when flu is most widespread.

Some people may have their vaccination from September 2024, including if:

  • you're pregnant (especially if you're near to your due date)

  • you're due to have treatment that will weaken your immune system (such as chemotherapy)

 

COVID

Who should have the covid vaccine. Those who:

You can get the free covid vaccine if you:

  • are aged 65 or over

  • are aged 6 months to 64 years who have certain long-term health conditions

  • are pregnant

  • live in a care home

Who should have the covid vaccine

Most eligible adults will be able to get the covid vaccine from 3 October 2024.

Some people may have their vaccination from September 2024, including if:

  • you're pregnant (especially if you're near to your due date)

  • you're due to have treatment that will weaken your immune system (such as chemotherapy)

 

RSV

Who should have the RSV vaccine

  • pregnant women from 28 weeks of pregnancy – please speak to your midwife

  • everyone turning 75 years old on or after the 1 September 2024 will be offered a single dose of RSV vaccine.  You can still get the vaccine up to the day before you turn 80.

  • for the first year of the programme, the vaccine will also be offered to those who are already aged 75 to 79 years on 1 September 2024 as part of a catch up programme.

  • If you are not yet 75 the NHS will invite you for vaccination once you turn 75.

When you should receive your RSV vaccine

Vaccinations will be available from the 1st September 2024. As a practice we will be inviting those turning 75 on or after the 1st September 2024 first, you can either book into one of our RSV only appointments or you may choose to receive the RSV vaccine at your practice flu and/or COVID appointment.

 

When will I be invited?

From the start of September will be slowly inviting eligible patients. Patients will receive a text message invite with a ‘self-booking link’ embedded within the text message so you can book directly from your smartphone.

If you do not have a mobile telephone number, one of the team will be in touch via your landline telephone OR via letter.

 

Housebound / Care home patients

  • Housebound patients will be contacted directly by one of our team to inform you of the day we will be able to visit

  • For Care homes, the local Primary Care Network team will be administering the vaccines
